Anyone who knows me will tell you FALL is my favorite time of a year.
Not because of the cool breeze, foliage and abundance of pumpkin-everything, but because FALL is the best season for fashion. As a northeast girl, I’ve dealt with my fair share of Octobers. Now, as an Atlanta transplant, I’m here to pass along what I’ve learned. So, here are “Nef’s Top FALL Fashion Must-Haves.”
LEATHER BIKER JACKET
It’s daring, but worth it. Pair it with a T-shirt and jeans or over a maxi dress. Just remember, it needs to be fitted. I always think black is the way to go, but white, blue, and green — all doable.
RIPPED JEANS
Some of you probably already have a pair since ripped jeans were the IT thing this summer. But note, this look can be carried over to the FALL. You just need to match them with the right kicks and tank top. Or with a sweater, scarf, and booties.
Nef’s Note: You don’t have to buy an expensive pair. I suggest a little DYI action! Just take a pair of worn out jeans you’re about to throw away, grab a pair of scissors and make your own. Don’t trust yourself? CLICK HERE.
NUDE OR NEUTRAL BOOTS
Even Wednesday Adams (moi) knows you need a pair of nude or neutral colored boots in your closet for the FALL. They will go with anything you wear and it’s a versatile color to work with throughout the season. Depending how you were your boots, it can make you appear taller. Who doesn’t want to look like Gigi Hadid walking down the street?
OVERSIZED SWEATERS
This trend is harder to pull off then people think because they don’t get the cut or fabric for their shape. It’s important to remember when you buy an oversized sweater that you look cool, not sloppy. So don’t go too big. As for colors? Play around. This is an item that’s an absolute must-have. So get more than one!
BIG SCARF
I know, I know. My Houston and Miami readers are asking, “Why do I need a big scarf?”
Maybe you don’t! But I’ll say this: I’ve lived in warm climates and have taken my scarves with me. You just never know…
So, how do you pick a good one? Trial and error. For example, my collection is comprised of oversized, stripped, polka dot, faux fur scarves and snoods. Pretend like you’re 9 years-old again and playing in your mom’s closet. Take risks and have fun doing it.
