You can literally GLOW from eating.
Yep, I’m not kidding. If you want supple, radiant skin and want to banish (or prevent) wrinkles, you have to eat. You just have to eat the right things. Everyone knows about the effects food has on the body. Sadly, not many realize how making sound food choices can do wonders for their skin.
So yes, that saying, “You are what you eat,” is true and not a myth.
First, you have to accept the fact that what you eat can cause acne and affect your hormonal balance. The reality of the situation is certain foods can create or lessen
Here are some foods with proven benefits:
Tomatoes
Tomatoes have been well-researched to have beneficial effects on skin because they have an antioxidant called lycopene. Lycopene helps prevent sunburn and improves your skin’s natural SPF, essentially.
Does that mean you can you throw away your sunblock and just not wear SPF? N-O! You STILL have to wear SPF every day!
Green Tea
Green tea polyphenols are potent antioxidant compounds which help improve your skin complexion and makes your skin healthy. How? It helps build and maintain elasticity – giving you a smoother look. So drink up! Just remember: unsweetened. Sugar is the devil. (I’ll have more on sugar in a future post).
Dark Chocolate
Cocoa flavonols are antioxidants that fight free radicals (so long, sun spots) and increase blood flow which is important for younger-looking skin (ex: JLo’s dewy glow!) Enough said.
Kale
Eating dark leafy greens like kale is not only good for your health – but also the health of your skin. Kale one of the top sources of beta carotene, a powerful antioxidant that helps repair your skin. Beta carotene is essential for the growth of skin cells.
Blueberries
Blueberries are known for its benefits. These berries are PACKED with an array of antioxidants that protect your skin from harmful free radicals (like cocoa) which damage collagen. As we age, collagen becomes more and more important. Blueberries are also loaded with vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E. So nosh on them regularly, because they can give you youthful looking skin and brighten up a dull complexion.
